CONSTRUCTION

J.B. Merritt started Anchor Pools in 1978. He played college football at the University of Tennessee where he met his wife Dionne. He taught school at Wren High School, and while visiting his cousins, he noticed that the next door neighbor was installing a swimming pool. He observed, asked millions of questions, did a lot of research, and decided this was the business he wanted to pursue. He and Dionne started the business while adding three daughters to their family. In his spare time hunting has become a passion. J.B. is the creative force behind our award winning gunite pools and fountains.

Billy Howard has been part of our construction team with Anchor Pools for over 10 years. He is a perfectionist in all his work and play, which guarantees our pools are built to the standard of quality you have come to expect from Anchor Pools. His eye for detail and his persistence on a job completed right not only benefits our customers when they are having their pool built, but also carries into his personal time where he enjoys wood working and building furniture.

Ben Merritt is the older brother of founder J.B. Merritt. He is a graduate of Wren High School, and prior to working at Anchor Pools he worked with the family milk distribution business. He is a founding member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and like his brother has a passion for hunting. Ben has been at Anchor Pools for 30+ years and handles vinyl construction, liner, and safety cover installation.

He also will provide a 3D conceptual picture of our new pools so our customers can better visualize their new pool in their backyard.

Although new to the pool industry, his manufacturing and technology background will streamline our process and encourage us to be more efficient and stay current with today’s technology.  He also assists with the initial placement process of your pool based on the 3D conceptual drawing and assists with the construction of your swimming pool.  He recently attended the Master Pool Guild meeting in Naples, FL., to further his training and to stay abreast of current techniques and received his certification from Tri County Tech in Electrical Installation.

As an important part of our construction team, Johnny is typically one of our first crew members on site, preparing the site for the installation of your new swimming pool. He is also the go to man during construction; lending a hand in the digging, lifting and sweating that goes into the building of a pool. He endures the brutal sun on a daily basis with a smile on his face, eager to get each task completed so that we stay on schedule when we are building a pool. He also assists in cleaning the site after installation to ensure that the only thing you have remaining to enjoy is your beautiful new pool. Once the work day is done, Johnny enjoys playing video games and socializing with friends.
